A decade ago, there was an elderly woman who used to visit a sheltered housing scheme in Dudley where her friend resided. The housing manager invited her to participate in the coffee mornings that she had organised, and the two developed a positive relationship. She confided in the Housing Manager that she had been concealing the fact that she was a hoarder and was sleeping on a broken settee while using coats to keep herself warm. The Housing Manager permitted her to remain at the scheme and gradually decluttered the house, making it habitable once again. The Housing Manager continued to support her, even after leaving the job. Tragically, the woman suffered a heart attack and passed away,. In memory of the woman, Cadrene Supported Living was established to aid those with Relief of Poverty and Social Inclusion.
