Mark’s Story: From Service User to Volunteer
“Cadrene helped me rebuild my confidence, make friends and find a way to give back.”
I first discovered Cadrene Supported Living quite by chance. I was walking past the building and needed to use the toilet, which led to me stopping and having a conversation with the people inside.
I first discovered Cadrene Supported Living by chance when I stopped to use the toilet. I was made to feel welcome and soon began visiting three times a week.
Having moved to Dudley from Cambridgeshire to address my gambling addiction, Cadrene helped me meet new people, build friendships and develop my confidence through social activities such as dominoes and chess.
After a year, I became a volunteer. I now give three days a week to supporting others by distributing food and clothing, helping with food vouchers, preparing refreshments and organising games to encourage people to socialise.
Cadrene helped me find friendship, confidence and a sense of belonging. Now, I am proud to give something back and help others feel welcome and supported.
